🐲 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐘𝐨𝐮, 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦!

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the @esfbradburyschool Lion Dance team for their wonderful performance for the Hillside children.

The children were completely engaged and delighted by the experience. It was a joyful and meaningful opportunity for them to connect with this festive tradition in a warm, child‑friendly environment.
It was also a pleasure to have our ESF Chinese Advisor join us for the traditional “eye‑dotting” ceremony— an important part of the lion dance that symbolises awakening the lion and bringing good fortune.

We also took time to teach the children a few festive greetings for the Year of the Horse, helping them connect language, culture, and celebration in a meaningful and age‑appropriate way.

Moments like these help bring learning to life and strengthen the special connection we share with our Bradbury community. Thank you for making it such a memorable experience for our young learners. 💛

We welcomed @curiositykidshk to Hillside for an exciting incursion that will serve as a provocation for our upcoming unit, “𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬.”

Our central idea focuses on 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲, and this hands‑on experience was designed to spark curiosity and wonder. The session introduced the children to a range of early science concepts while nurturing their thinking, questioning, and research skills.

The children took part in a mini “science lab” at school, where they explored colour science and investigated fizzy potions — learning through experimentation, observation, and play.

Our K2s had an exciting day at the science museum with their grown ups! Together, they embarked on a scavenger hunt to look for various materials and machines—connecting their real-world observations to our unit 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴. 🌍Children also drew what they found exciting and interesting - the dinosaur exhibits and The Energy Machine were a highlight! 
One learner described The Energy Machine: “The balls moved from top to down. There’s a lift to lift it up and the balls go all the way down. The ball roll roll roll! And it stopped here.”
We love seeing our young scientists apply their skills beyond the classroom—learning truly happens everywhere! 💫

Today, we partnered with 𝐢‑𝐒𝐄𝐄 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 to carry out essential vision screenings for our children at school. These checks are an important part of supporting each child’s wellbeing and learning.

Early identification of vision needs helps us provide the right support in the classroom. For example, if a child has colour vision differences, we can adjust colour‑based activities. If a child needs to sit closer during story time or learning activities, we can make those simple changes early.

The screenings were carried out in a calm, child‑friendly way, and the children did an amazing job throughout. 👏

We’re starting the new year with rhythm, movement, and joyful learning!

At Hillside, our focus on 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟‑𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 continues — helping children tune in to their bodies, manage energy levels, and express emotions through music and movement.

This January, we invite families to join our 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞 & 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 at home! 💫

Try a few fun, simple ideas together:
🎶 Clap or march to a steady beat — can you keep the rhythm for a minute? Beat synchronisation helps regulation.
🌿 Take a “movement break” to reset — stretch, sway, or dance slowly to calming music.
🥁 Freeze Dance - can you control staring and stoping during the dance? Practicing start and stop actions helps improve inhibition and impulse control.
🎵 Listen carefully: is the music fast or slow, loud or quiet? How does it make you feel? Connecting with our feelings.

Through these playful activities, children learn to notice their bodies, express emotions, and develop the focus and calm needed for learning.

K2s at The Shed

✨ What’s the most dangerous thing in The Shed? Bradbury School’s Educational Technologies Coach had the perfect answer: “The children!” 🫣 Starting with this question helps build safety awareness while encouraging our little learners to be principled, brave risk-takers.

The Shed makerspace was a wonderful provocation for our K2s in their unit, How the World Works, with the big idea “Discovery helps us learn about the world and create new possibilities.”
Through play and exploration, children show us their thinking in wonderfully organic ways. Discovery isn’t always linear—it’s playful, messy, and full of possibilities! 💡

A heartfelt thank you to all our Hillside families for your generosity and support during our recent fundraiser for those affected by the Tai Po fire.

Last Friday, the 𝐄𝐒𝐅 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 came together across all schools for a collective fundraising effort. At Hillside, we marked the day with a simple Dress‑Down Day, guided by the theme of “𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬.”

It was so heart‑warming to see our young learners showing care, compassion, and understanding through their
 actions. Every small donation and every conversation about kindness made a difference.

All funds raised will go to the Government’s 𝐓𝐚𝐢 𝐏𝐨 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝 to support those directly impacted. We are currently collating the figures from the different donation channels and will share the total amount raised in our next parent newsletter.

These staff members have been training weekly, alongside other colleagues at Hillside, as part of our very own 𝐉𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐑𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 (named after their shared love of jelly bubble tea!). 🧋💛

Our K2s had an exciting day at the science museum with their grown ups! Together, they embarked on a scavenger hunt to look for various materials and machines—connecting their real-world observations to our unit 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴. 🌍Children also drew what they found exciting and interesting - the dinosaur exhibits and The Energy Machine were a highlight! 
One learner described The Energy Machine: “The balls moved from top to down. There’s a lift to lift it up and the balls go all the way down. The ball roll roll roll! And it stopped here.”
We love seeing our young scientists apply their skills beyond the classroom—learning truly happens everywhere! 💫

Today, we partnered with 𝐢‑𝐒𝐄𝐄 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 to carry out essential vision screenings for our children at school. These checks are an important part of supporting each child’s wellbeing and learning.

Early identification of vision needs helps us provide the right support in the classroom. For example, if a child has colour vision differences, we can adjust colour‑based activities. If a child needs to sit closer during story time or learning activities, we can make those simple changes early.

The screenings were carried out in a calm, child‑friendly way, and the children did an amazing job throughout. 👏

At Hillside, our focus on 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟‑𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 continues — helping children tune in to their bodies, manage energy levels, and express emotions through music and movement.

This January, we invite families to join our 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞 & 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 at home! 💫

Try a few fun, simple ideas together:
🎶 Clap or march to a steady beat — can you keep the rhythm for a minute? Beat synchronisation helps regulation.
🌿 Take a “movement break” to reset — stretch, sway, or dance slowly to calming music.
🥁 Freeze Dance - can you control staring and stoping during the dance? Practicing start and stop actions helps improve inhibition and impulse control.
🎵 Listen carefully: is the music fast or slow, loud or quiet? How does it make you feel? Connecting with our feelings.

Through these playful activities, children learn to notice their bodies, express emotions, and develop the focus and calm needed for learning.

✨ What’s the most dangerous thing in The Shed? Bradbury School’s Educational Technologies Coach had the perfect answer: “The children!” 🫣 Starting with this question helps build safety awareness while encouraging our little learners to be principled, brave risk-takers.

The Shed makerspace was a wonderful provocation for our K2s in their unit, How the World Works, with the big idea “Discovery helps us learn about the world and create new possibilities.”
Through play and exploration, children show us their thinking in wonderfully organic ways. Discovery isn’t always linear—it’s playful, messy, and full of possibilities! 💡

A heartfelt thank you to all our Hillside families for your generosity and support during our recent fundraiser for those affected by the Tai Po fire.

Last Friday, the 𝐄𝐒𝐅 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 came together across all schools for a collective fundraising effort. At Hillside, we marked the day with a simple Dress‑Down Day, guided by the theme of “𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬.”

It was so heart‑warming to see our young learners showing care, compassion, and understanding through their
 actions. Every small donation and every conversation about kindness made a difference.

All funds raised will go to the Government’s 𝐓𝐚𝐢 𝐏𝐨 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝 to support those directly impacted. We are currently collating the figures from the different donation channels and will share the total amount raised in our next parent newsletter.

Thank you once again for your kindness and generosity — together, we are helping our children see the real power of empathy and community. 💛

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the @esfbradburyschool Lion Dance team for their wonderful performance for the Hillside children.

The children were completely engaged and delighted by the experience. It was a joyful and meaningful opportunity for them to connect with this festive tradition in a warm, child‑friendly environment.
It was also a pleasure to have our ESF Chinese Advisor join us for the traditional “eye‑dotting” ceremony— an important part of the lion dance that symbolises awakening the lion and bringing good fortune.

We also took time to teach the children a few festive greetings for the Year of the Horse, helping them connect language, culture, and celebration in a meaningful and age‑appropriate way.

Moments like these help bring learning to life and strengthen the special connection we share with our Bradbury community. Thank you for making it such a memorable experience for our young learners. 💛

We welcomed @curiositykidshk to Hillside for an exciting incursion that will serve as a provocation for our upcoming unit, “𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬.”

Our central idea focuses on 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲, and this hands‑on experience was designed to spark curiosity and wonder. The session introduced the children to a range of early science concepts while nurturing their thinking, questioning, and research skills.

The children took part in a mini “science lab” at school, where they explored colour science and investigated fizzy potions — learning through experimentation, observation, and play.

This joyful provocation sets the stage for deeper inquiry as we begin our new unit, and we’re excited to see where the children’s questions and discoveries will lead next. 💛

We welcomed @curiositykidshk to Hillside for an exciting incursion that will serve as a provocation for our upcoming unit, “𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬.”

Our central idea focuses on 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲, and this hands‑on experience was designed to spark curiosity and wonder. The session introduced the children to a range of early science concepts while nurturing their thinking, questioning, and research skills.

The children took part in a mini “science lab” at school, where they explored colour science and investigated fizzy potions — learning through experimentation, observation, and play.

This joyful provocation sets the stage for deeper inquiry as we begin our new unit, and we’re excited to see where the children’s questions and discoveries will lead next. 💛

We’re incredibly proud of 𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 who recently took part in the annual 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 — a fantastic achievement and the result of months of commitment and teamwork.

These staff members have been training weekly, alongside other colleagues at Hillside, as part of our very own 𝐉𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐑𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 (named after their shared love of jelly bubble tea!). 🧋💛

✨🔍 𝐊𝟐 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐬! 🔍✨

Our K2s had an exciting day at the science museum with their grown ups! Together, they embarked on a scavenger hunt to look for various materials and machines—connecting their real-world observations to our unit 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴. 🌍Children also drew what they found exciting and interesting - the dinosaur exhibits and The Energy Machine were a highlight! 
One learner described The Energy Machine: “The balls moved from top to down. There’s a lift to lift it up and the balls go all the way down. The ball roll roll roll! And it stopped here.”
We love seeing our young scientists apply their skills beyond the classroom—learning truly happens everywhere! 💫

👀 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 👀

Today, we partnered with 𝐢‑𝐒𝐄𝐄 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 to carry out essential vision screenings for our children at school. These checks are an important part of supporting each child’s wellbeing and learning.

Early identification of vision needs helps us provide the right support in the classroom. For example, if a child has colour vision differences, we can adjust colour‑based activities. If a child needs to sit closer during story time or learning activities, we can make those simple changes early.

The screenings were carried out in a calm, child‑friendly way, and the children did an amazing job throughout. 👏

We’re starting the new year with rhythm, movement, and joyful learning!

At Hillside, our focus on 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟‑𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 continues — helping children tune in to their bodies, manage energy levels, and express emotions through music and movement.

This January, we invite families to join our 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞 & 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 at home! 💫

Try a few fun, simple ideas together:
🎶 Clap or march to a steady beat — can you keep the rhythm for a minute? Beat synchronisation helps regulation.
🌿 Take a “movement break” to reset — stretch, sway, or dance slowly to calming music.
🥁 Freeze Dance - can you control staring and stoping during the dance? Practicing start and stop actions helps improve inhibition and impulse control.
🎵 Listen carefully: is the music fast or slow, loud or quiet? How does it make you feel? Connecting with our feelings.

Through these playful activities, children learn to notice their bodies, express emotions, and develop the focus and calm needed for learning.

K2s at The Shed

✨ What’s the most dangerous thing in The Shed? Bradbury School’s Educational Technologies Coach had the perfect answer: “The children!” 🫣 Starting with this question helps build safety awareness while encouraging our little learners to be principled, brave risk-takers.

The Shed makerspace was a wonderful provocation for our K2s in their unit, How the World Works, with the big idea “Discovery helps us learn about the world and create new possibilities.”
Through play and exploration, children show us their thinking in wonderfully organic ways. Discovery isn’t always linear—it’s playful, messy, and full of possibilities! 💡

A heartfelt thank you to all our Hillside families for your generosity and support during our recent fundraiser for those affected by the Tai Po fire.

Last Friday, the 𝐄𝐒𝐅 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 came together across all schools for a collective fundraising effort. At Hillside, we marked the day with a simple Dress‑Down Day, guided by the theme of “𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬.”

It was so heart‑warming to see our young learners showing care, compassion, and understanding through their
 actions. Every small donation and every conversation about kindness made a difference.

All funds raised will go to the Government’s 𝐓𝐚𝐢 𝐏𝐨 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝 to support those directly impacted. We are currently collating the figures from the different donation channels and will share the total amount raised in our next parent newsletter.

Thank you once again for your kindness and generosity — together, we are helping our children see the real power of empathy and community. 💛
