🌪️ Typhoon Ragasa Update & Family Challenge 🌪️

With the latest forecast for Typhoon Ragasa, the Hong Kong Observatory has indicated that it may raise a T9 or higher signal. Please note that all classes will continue to be suspended on 24 September. Thank you for your understanding and support.

As our families will be spending more time indoors, let’s stay connected and creative together!

We invite everyone to join our Hillside “Loose Parts” Challenge. Look for different loose parts around your home—buttons, bottle caps, cardboard tubes, string, or anything you can find—and use your imagination to create something special. There are no limits!

When you’re finished, please share a photo of your creation in our shared album. You can also see what Audrey, Laura, and Brenda have made for some inspiration.

Thank you again for your patience and support during this time. We wish everyone a safe and restful day at home.

Learning Through Play—At Home! 🌧️

With classes suspended due to the super typhoon, we know many families will be spending extra time indoors. At Hillside, we believe learning can happen anywhere—especially through play! Here are some simple, fun activities you can try at home with your child:

▪️What’s Missing?
Place 5–6 familiar objects (like a spoon or toy car) on a tray. Show the tray, then cover it and secretly remove one item. Reveal the tray and ask, “What’s missing?” (Builds memory and language skills.)

▪️Sock Toss
Roll up socks to make “balls” and toss them into a basket or box. Take turns and keep score if you like.
(Great for movement and coordination indoors.)

▪️Build a Tower
Use blocks, cups, or empty boxes to build the tallest tower you can before it falls. (Encourages creativity and problem-solving.)

▪️Mystery Bag
Fill a bag with household items. Without looking, take turns reaching in and guessing what’s inside. (Builds vocabulary and sensory awareness.)

▪️Indoor Obstacle Course
Make a simple course with pillows, chairs, and blankets. Crawl, hop, or balance—let your child help design it! (A fun way to keep active indoors.)

We hope these ideas help your family stay safe, happy, and engaged. Don’t forget to check your online Resource Bank for more ideas, which you can use at any time.

Stay safe and take care, everyone!
